Fallout: The Game & The TV Series

Most people who have played video games have played, or at least heard of, the Fallout game series. Fallout first came out in 1997, and was developed and published by Interplay Productions, and is now owned by Bethesda Softworks. Fallout takes place during a mid-22nd century, post-apocalyptic world, a few decades after a global nuclear war between the United States and China. The Vault Dweller is the protagonist, and the character that the players gets to play as. Depending on which game in the series, the player is playing, the Vault Dweller exits the vault to find resources to make/enhance their weapons and/or armor, help people, survive, etc.

When, Where, & Who

The upcoming Fallout series is due out on 11 April 2024, and was created by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner, and will be shown on Amazon Prime. Amazon purchased the rights to produce a live action project in 2020, and later announced the upcoming Fallout series. Lisa Joy and Jonathon Nolan Kilter Films joined Bethesda Softworks to help with directing and producing the series. Todd Howard, one of the developers of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls game series, will also be along for the ride as an executive producer for the Fallout tv series.

Point(s) of Interest

* Nolan and Joy have been quoted as saying that the series wasn’t made to please just fans of the game because that would be a “fools errand”. Nolan is a longtime fan of the games and said that the series was made to make him happy and he feels that he’s achieved that. Let’s hope that he’s done it in a way that everyone will be pleased with. Gamers, including myself, can be quite fickle when it comes to making movies or tv shows based on our favorite games. Don’t lie, you know I’m right.
